Tailors Corner

Tailors Corner is one of Leeds’ most iconic city-center landmarks, and its refurbishment required contemporary design without detracting from the building’s original grandeur.

A key new feature is a roof garden for the sole use of the sixth-floor occupier, and landscape designer John Davies Landscape Architecture wanted this to be a garden in its truest sense. Terrace system products from Raaft gave choice and versatility to ensure this vision became reality, while ensuring the finished results satisfied the requirements for durability and safety.

Raaft also became the supplier of choice as the customer wanted a single source for all hard landscaping products and we met that requirement.

The greatest challenge we faced on this project was the extremely short timeframe, as all heavy lifting to the roof area had to be completed before a crane was removed from the site.The client also originally specified powder-coated planters then changed to Corten finish.Our operations team proved their agility by ensuring all components were manufactured and shipped to site on schedule.
