Landscape Edging

Located in the heart of Mayfair, Grosvenor Square Gardens has undergone a £25 million transformation, creating a greener, more accessible and biodiverse public space.

The landscape design reinstates the square's historic central oval lawn, surrounded by a sweeping promenade and woodland-inspired gardens. An extensive network of pathways connects the lawn, natural play areas, seating and new community facilities, providing accessible routes through the richly planted landscape.

Kinley's 75mm Fort galvanised steel edging and AluExcel aluminium edging were specified throughout the pathway network, providing durable, discreet boundaries between hard and soft landscaping. Fort's strength and corrosion-resistant finish made it ideal for defining pathways alongside lawns and planted areas, while AluExcel's lightweight construction and flexibility allowed clean, precise edges around curved routes and more intricate landscape features.

The scheme's complex geometry presented several technical challenges. To accommodate the pathway layout, Kinley supplied Fort edging with a bespoke reverse top fold, while exceptionally tight radii were required on preformed sections of edging to achieve the precise curves specified. These adaptations helped maintain consistent, high-quality finishes throughout the garden's flowing design.

The completed scheme combines heritage-sensitive landscaping with contemporary environmental design, creating an inviting urban garden where Kinley's edging contributes to the seamless integration of pathways, planting and public spaces.
